While I loved the book I really wish Eve was tougher. I wish she put people in their places better. I really wanted Daniela to get what she deserved but of course that didn’t happen. I’m just left feeling unsatisfied.

I really liked her first book (Rising) but this one was disappointing. The plot was predictable, the prose was reminiscent of high school and I ended up not liking Eve that much. I have White Knight Syndrome but there comes a point you want to throat punch Eve and tell her to grow a spine.
This is the second book in this great series and I have to say I loved it! This time Vincent is gone back to college and Eve is just starting college, she is determined to be a lawyer, she is enjoying college life when she goes to a party with her friend when she see someone at the party she didn't think she would see again. That shocks her but there is more he has a long time mean girlfriend and she find also he is a made man and the Prince of the college. Now Vincent is not what he seems, is a made man but he is also a good guy and he trying to stay away from Eve but they are Soulmates , Eve of course is mad at him but she is can't stay away either. Vincent college girlfriend is a internet social star and she has to have Vincent with her and she has power over Vincent since her father does business for Vincent family. So things get hard for Eve and Vincent, it's so great to see them together even if everyone is against them but things goes bad for Vincent and has to make a sacrifice. I will not tell you more , you just have to read this great book, the third book is out so I have to read the last one to see Vincent and Eve HEA! Will recommend this book to all romance readers💗
Okay, so I am going to be a little lighter in my review of this book because I know it is book two of a three part series. Had this book been a stand alone it would be getting thee stars from me rather then four. Let me explain

I LOVED book one, like truly loved it. And while this book was well written, character driven, and an emotional ride; a few things didn't quite work for me. When two characters enter into each others lives, there is a give and take, a learning curve. While these characters learned more about each other in this book, I do not think they grew. I might even say they stalled or deteriorated.

Eve I get she had a hard life, but she was so whiney, so wimpy, so almost annying in this story that I lost some of my caring feelings for her. Where is her spine? Where was her determination to understand, too trust? I wanted more from her. I needed her to trust Vincent, to understand that if they were to be together sacrifices had to be made. I don't believe for a moment she thought about anyone else but herself. She felt selfish to me.

Vincent where was that strong, determined, gruff alpha male from book one? He got all sweet and gooey in this book and lost some of his magic. He needed more strength when it came to Eve and to his wretched "girlfriend."

Plot while I love that this story is character driven and "mafia light," the choices that were made in that plot line seemed a bit too unrealistic for me. Not a big deal, but didn't quite go with the rest of the story for me. Don't get me started on Daniela's story line lack of resolution. I am hoping she is in book three and gets her comeupins.

Now; having stated the basic reason for my four star rather then five star review; let me say this is still an amazing story and a wonderful book. I am hoping book three will balance out the previous books and complete the story for me. This is still a favorite series for me and I will still recommend it to others. I am immediately jumping into book three now. I am so happy to have discovered this series and this author!
Wow Wow WOWWWWWW!!!  I’m just left speechless with this series!!  It’s everything I love in reading! Angst, heartbreak, and forbidden love.  What more can a girl want??!!!  Jessica Ruben debut series is just blowing me away! I still cannot believe this is her debut series as it’s written like she’s been doing this for years! Well maybe she has and she’s just now sharing them with us the readers!  It doesn’t matter though, I JUST FLOVE IT! You need to go one click Reckoning today!

This is the second book in the series and and since I don’t want to spoil you incase you’ve not read Rising I’ll just leave this little tid bit.  Stop what you are doing and one click both books!! I’m left wanting so much more and cannot wait for the last book Redemption to be released!! I will be dying a slow death waiting for its release but I know it will be well worth it in the end!! This series is one of my favorites this year and NEEDS TO READ!!
Do you ever go to read the second book in a series and wonder, just for a second, if maybe it won’t live up to your expectations? What if it’s not as good as the first one? .
Trust me, no have absolutely NOTHING to worry about with Reckoning!! OMG!! I feel like there are no words to describe the awesomeness that is this book!!! It’s freakin. PHENOMENAL!! My emotions were everywhere! I had no idea where the story would lead me...I just knew I couldn’t wait to get there. I loved every second of this rollercoaster book.

In Reckoning we get to hear from Vincent’s POV also, and let me tell you, Vincent’s thought and struggles are intense! There is so much more to this story that was in Rising.

It took me much longer to read Reckoning than Rising, just for the fact that I never wanted it to end! I wanted to savor ever word, every scene, I could get enough. Jessica has done an absolute amazing job on the follow up to Rising. Now, I’m inpatiently waiting for book 3! It cannot come soon enough!

The series is an absolute MUST READ! Jessica Ruben is officially my favorite new author!! Vincent and Eve are everything!
